Recently we visited a home user complaining of slow performance and errors popping up on the screen. We removed ten programs and a virus scan detected 752 potentially unwanted programs that were cleaned. We repaired the registry and performed a clean restart and the user told us they noticed the increase in performance immediately. Because we had been working with them throughout the process, teaching them to maintain the baseline and asked them to do the system updates and defrag the hard drive. We also recommended that they run a manual scan once a week while they read the Sunday Newspaper.
